Meet other parents who get it

Neurosphere started with two Montreal parents looking for a place where children could play at their own pace and families could feel welcome. We now host small meetups: the children play with special educators and facilitators in a calm room, and the parents sit together and talk. Siblings are welcome. Nobody performs.

Places are limited so the room stays calm. Reserve even if you are not sure you will come; leaving early counts as a successful outing. Read how to plan a calm outing before you go.

How a meetup works

  1. Arrive during the calm window. Reduced stimulation, no rush, no expectations.
  2. Children join a light group play activity with our special educators. Parallel play is fine. No forced socializing.
  3. Parents gather in the same space or next door: coffee, conversation, sometimes a clinician volunteer answering questions.
  4. Leave whenever your child has had enough. That is the plan working, not failing.

Who runs it

A special education coordinator with early-childhood and special-needs experience, a play-therapy facilitator with a background in behavioural neuroscience, and a special educator with a master's in educational psychology. All hold pediatric first-aid training. Volunteer occupational therapists and other clinicians have supported our sessions. We name people publicly only with their consent; ask us at a meetup.

Neurosphere is an independent, non-profit-minded project. We never name a child or a diagnosis publicly, we publish no photo of a child without written consent, and we do not collect health information.

Host a meetup, or partner with us

Museums, libraries, community centres and clinics: we bring a cohort of prepared families, facilitators, and an honest debrief afterwards. We ask for a quiet room and a calm time slot. Write to us.
